Authentic early 20th century Continental Scale Works (Chicago, Ill.) countertop merchant scale with 31 lb capacity. Originally used in general stores, produce markets, butcher shops, and hardware counters. Features dual sliding poise weights for pound and ounce measurements. Weights appear to be lead while the scale is cast iron, wood flat base. Beam is stamped: “Continental Scale Works – Chicago, Ill. Cap’ty 31 Lbs.”
