Antique Sand-cast Glass African Multicolored Trade Beads 26" Strand

Sand-cast beads were made in sand (or pressed clay) molds with a cassava branch to form the hole. Pulverized glass was put in the molds, layering to create the colorful pattern. The section of the strand without beads has an extra wrap of fiber presumably as a spacer so the necklace can move & expand instead of being taut.
