Vtg Floating Dairy Thermometer w/Original Wood Box

I ran hot water over the tip & the temp did move. I received this from a relative over 30 years ago, so I don’t know exactly how old it is. The box is in great condition for the age with 1 small crack at one end & 1 little longer one at the other end (tried to show these in photos).
